Watch the video below on energy. Think about how this teacher improved or didn't improve the message he was trying to get across. Was this means of communication effective for the audience (students)?
This teacher got his lesson across. All of his information was stated and the students were probably able to absorb some facts about Solar Energy. That being said, personally, I found this video to be boring. He spoke in a monotone voice and spoke very slow. I am assuming this video was directed towards younger students because of the way in which he spoke. I feel like if that was the case the students might have been impressed with his voice being on a video, older students, however, were probably bored from the video.
Personally, I really like the way this teacher got the message across. He made sure that his information was stated very clearly so all age groups can pick up on the information. This video would probably be pretty boring for a college student but would be very good for someone ages 10-16 to get them to understand how important enegry is. By using all the pictures and diagrams it made it much easier to follow what he was saying in order to get his point across.
This teacher had the right idea trying to incorporate background music and colorful cartoon pictures. However, some people may be put off or distracted by this music while they are trying to pay attention to the lesson. You can tell he trying to appeal to a younger audience because of the subject and the way he spoke. I feel that he could have had a little more emotion his his tone rather than just stating facts. I thought it was a good idea that he connected a real life situation to the lesson. For example, he talks about how we get energy from drinking milk, and that that energy comes from the sun. Overall, I think this way of communication is effective for the students. I think it would have been more appealing to them if there had been animation and maybe an upgrade in the graphics he used to present the information.
The teacher had a good basic concept, however the video was too bland and boring to keep interest (I myself started to get bored, I can only imagine how a classroom of kids would feel). The background music helped, but the narration was too monotone and the images were too poorly done. I woud have been better to either find non-copy-written cartoon type images or to simply take real life images and add text to it. Some sort of animation or even transitions would have been helpful to keep the flow a bit faster and smoother would have helped too.
Even though the music might help some people, I found it too be very distracting. Also, the voice was very monotone, I think he should have been a little bit more enthusiastic. Maybe he can add some more aspects to catch a kid's attention, like an animation, or something like that. It's hard to hear his voice over the music. Also, the drawings really aren't drawn that great so it didn't make me want to pay attention. I think it could be effective if there wasn't music, or if he had a little bit more entertaining factors. It was effective for subject matter, but it was boring so it wasn't effective on keeping the audience's attention.
I think the video was appropriate for a younger age group. It was drawn the way a child may have drawn the images, so I think it would hold their attention. I'll admit, I did get bored. And if students learn at a fast pace, then maybe they would have lost attention. It is not very dynamic, it stays the same all the way through. Kids, I feel, would want shorter segments.
I really like the idea however the tone of the teachers voice was way to monotone. It felt like he was repeating himself and got pretty boring. I think the video graphics were a good visual because it demonstrated how solar energy works. I think for a change the teacher could do the audio over and make it more interesting or he could keep the video silent and present it to the class while the video is playing. This way the teacher could pause the video and allow for questions and clarifications and could keep the video less repetitive and more interesting to watch
The first problem with this video is that his tone of voice does not at all seem interested in what the topic is. He seems as though he does not care about the topic because of his tone of voice which sounds disinterested and has no passion in it. This tone of voice also causes the viewer to become very bored while watching the video. He improved his point that he was trying to get across by using visual graphics to show his point. This helps the viewer to better understand what exactly the narrator is referring too and also just makes the video more interesting overall.
This teacher improved the message that he was trying to get across in a sense that everything shown was basic enough that understanding what was being taught was easy. However students may lose focus on the video due to the tone of the narrator being dull and monotone. This video expressed the ideas of solar energy efficiently, but the method of narration may hinder the listener's attention.
