Watch this short video on interactive whiteboards and components that go with them. How do you think these tools can be used in a classroom to activate higher levels of learning for students?
I think these tools can be used in many ways to activate a higher level of learning for students. The wireless "slate" can be used from anywhere in the room making it easier for students to pass it around and add something to the discussion. I think that the hand-held devices are a great tool to use because the teacher can get every students input or opinion without having to waste too much time for all of them to answer individually. For example, if there was a multiple choice question on the board the students would select their choice on the hand-held, and the results would be displayed on the board. Also, if there was a class vote for something, the students can quickly select a button and again, the results will be displayed. All of these tools allow children to participate in a way that suited to their learning styles. If a student learns better visually, they may draw a picture on the slate. Or, if they are intrapersonal, that student may find that selecting and answer on the hand-held instead of saying it out loud is best for them. Either way all of the tools encourage students to get involved.
There are many different ways to use the smartboards in the classroom. Since there are so many different activities incorporated with the smartboard, the possibilities are almost limitless. The only major downsides the them is the cost, it's hard enough to get basic school supplies in some schools, smartboards are out of the question in a lot of cases, and they take away from the "pencil to paper" learning. Students are constantly introduced to new technology, and it's great for them to learn, but they do need to still use traditional methods, so as long as teachers don't rely to much on smartboards and still occasionally use traditional writing methods they are an excellent tol to have in a classroom.
Smart boards are great to use in the class room because of the visual learning that smart boards have to offer. The level of interest in the subject or the lesson being taught increases through the use of technology or animation. For example a students learning through the use of a blackboard will be less interested in what is being taught due to the dullness of visual learning, where as smart boards have the ability to use animation to capture the student's interest.
The Interactive White board is a great tool for getting students involved. This is the age of technology and students are digital natives, so it only makes sense that technology be used. The ActivClassroom can be used to visually demonstrate the concept a teacher wants to convey, in a method that will keep the students paying attention. Surveys demonstrating what the students think or feel, presented on an ActivBoard could be interesting. Also, having the students buzz in to answer the questions first can make for a fun and competitive game.
I think smartboards are a great tool for the classroom. It allows everyone to participate by using the hand-held devices and the wireless tools that can move around the classroom. This gets students involved who are shy and don’t participate as much as they would like. The smartboard also reaches all types of learners from the visual to auditory learners. The way everything is animated makes it a lot more appealing to the students, engaging their attention. There’s so much teachers can do with their students using smartboards I hope it will become a common tool used in all classrooms.
Smartboards are a very effective tool. It is an object wil many different capabilities and endless possibilities. It is most effective because it can be used by every student in the classroom without having to go up to the board. Instead of one person going up at a time to participate or having students raise their hands to answer a question. With the smartboard every student can answer at the same time which eliminates the students that never raise hands and do not participate.
