The software that we used in class this week (bubbl.us) is designed for students that are visual learners. How could you use this program in an elementary classroom? What are the benefits of using a "mind-mapping" tool like this?
The bubbl.us software could be used in an elementary classroom by the use of images integrated into the software. The use of images may make it easier for the students to understand what is being taught. The benefits of using "mind-mapping" tools like this is that what is being taught is clearly visible and organized making it easier for students to understand the lesson.
The bubbl.us software can help in an Elementary School classroom because it is extremely organized and visual. Students can use the links to help them quickly find the resources the teacher wants them to find. Also, it's quick and easy to put together which gives the teacher more time to work on ither things while it's still beneficial to the students learning.
Bubbl.us is a good instructional tool that makes it is easy to follow assignments which require the use of the internet. Teachers can use it as demonstrated in this week's assignment. But I think Bubbl.us will be best utilized when used by the students to brainstorm their own ideas on different or a shared computers.
I especially like brainstorming on Bubbl.us because it might eliminate some of the self and peer screening that happens in brainstorming. Students may be more comfortable with posting ideas on the bubbl.us site than aloud in class or even in a small group. Also, the ideas are input by the student, so other students will not be able to disagree with the idea until it is already on the screen. Another reason bubbl.us is great is that as the project grows, so can Bubbl.us. It allows the students to post links to their findings within the brainstorm, very easily. So the brainstorm has now become a collection of resources, that one can access for presentations, action projects or further research.
I might use this program to have students discover, research, and solve a community issue. If they are concerned with the environment, for example, through their research they may devise a way to improve the environment in their neighborhood, town or state. This would lead to an action project where they would get out and do something to effect change.
I think bubbl.us is a great way of helping those who are visual learners. Being able to see each step helps the little ones grasp the assignment quickly and teaches them how to follow a task. It is also a good way of presenting it to the class in the beginning of class allowing the children to see what is expected of the day, crossing off each thing that gets done through out the day, which makes them feel accomplished.
The benefits of using the bubbl program in an elementary class room are to help the non auditory learners. it stimulates little kids interests and all the color and shape changing on the program will really help to keep the childrens' attention. it will help abstract thinks to structure there thoughts in an organized way to accomplish things faster. it will also help certain learners who best organize by color or shape.
Bubbl.us could be used in an elementary school classroom to help students plan out writing assignments and projects. The students could use it to create visual guides that would help them be organized and not forget their ideas when they do their assignment. I was taught how to use a bubble chart in my notebook to clarify ideas but in this generation with all of the technology available students can do the same thing online and not worry about losing their work when going to and from school.
I think that Bubbl.us would be a great tool to use in an elementary school classroom. It is an interactive way for the students to learn. The whole format, layout, colors, and shapes make it visually pleasing and attract the attention of the students. Also, the easy accessible links can create connections between words and visuals which can be helpful for absorbing a concept.
